Abstract

This study aims to analyze the particle size distribution produced by the grinding process in Media Mill 3 and Mill 4 at PT Geoservices. The grinding process was conducted using the Grinding Establishment and Grinding to Target methods to determine the optimum time required to achieve a particle size of 75 microns with 80% passing (P80). Experiments were carried out using spend ore samples processed with rod mills of varying rod lengths, diameters, and weights. The results showed that Mill 3 required 10 minutes and 32 seconds to reach the target size, while Mill 4 only required 9 minutes and 31 seconds. This difference was mainly influenced by the rotational speed and the physical conditions of each mill. Additionally, particle size distribution analysis indicated that Mill 4 produced a more uniform particle size distribution compared to Mill 3. These findings provide useful insights for optimizing grinding parameters to improve efficiency in mineral processing operations at PT Geoservices.
