Optimalisasi Peran Pokdarwis Melalui Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Berbasis Pariwisata di Desa Karyamekar Pasirwangi Kab. Garut Jawa Barat

Abstract

Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis) play an essential role in community-based tourism development; however, limited English proficiency often hinders effective service to international visitors. This community service program aimed to improve basic tourism-oriented English communication skills among members of Pokdarwis, PKK, and posyandu cadres in Karyamekar Village, Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency. The training was conducted on November 14–15, 2025, at Classroom 3 of SDN Karyamekar 2, attended by 25 participants. The methods included lectures, conversational practice, role-plays, and tourism service simulations. The results indicated significant improvement in vocabulary mastery, self-introduction, explanation of tourist attractions, and the ability to provide visitor information. Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm and motivation to continue enhancing their English competence. The program effectively strengthened Pokdarwis’ role in elevating service quality and supporting Karyamekar Village’s tourism development.
